After OS, what should I update/install/patch next?

OS installed, chipsets and drivers, those that are necessary, are also installed from Mother's cd. OS installed in C:\ and E:\ is just formated to NTFS. Downloaded and update nVidia driver latest for 8800 GTS. AVG 7, and firewall are up, SP2B come w/ OS. Installed nTune and test the System Stability and pass 33 or w/ 33, I have no idea what it mean.

I have not connect to the internet yet, need to install SBC DSL, so that mean not one single update is up yet. Other than that, I have no idea what other patchest/update/upgrade needed to be down/up.

Before I connect to the interweb and get the updates, i just want to make sure that I gotten everything else that does not need an internet connection so if yu think that I miss something or lack something please tell me.

So far, I have try to run Homeworld 2, but the game will not even run. It is strange because I have the latest nVidia driver there is and w/ my system, I exceed the recommend specs by a mile. It also asked me to install DX9b, which come w/ the game, even though I have DX9c......What is up w/ that? I installed it in E:\.

Thank

So far you've done the right thing - at least in my book - by installing internet security applications before hitting the internet. Generally, after that I would download updates for those applications and then Windows.

Why install programs to another partition? From experience it causes nothing but problems - much like the one you have now. Try installing the game to the default location - which would be C:\Programs and see if the problem disappears.

Oh......Well, I partioned my 320 into one 50 and the other 249, how is that make 320? :S wat/ever. The 50 is C: and the E: is 249. I saw someone said something about that so I though it would be a good thing. I am screw now?

How do yu uh....join them together? I do not mind doing the whole OS installation/reinstall again, as long as it is convenience Later, then I will do it.

Also, in my Device Manager, I get one Yellow Exclamation on a PCI thing..... I think I have install the needed drives from my Mother cd. Another thing, if a chipset that come from the cd said that it "work for window 2003, SP1 and SP3" but mention nothing of SP2b, then should I install it anyway? it is a HD Alizia audio wat/ever chipset.

Also, then what is the purpose of the partion option?

The way of using 2 partitions on a HD is to install the OS and programs on the C: drive and use the other part as data storage like audio/pictues/video/etc.
Windows 2003 is a server OS so you don't need to worry about it.
You would load the HD audio software if you had a 5.1 or higher speaker system and just use the audio connections on the back of the motherboard. Case audio connections to the motherboard are usually the older AC'97 audio.

SO then I am good right? I install OS, drivers, security stuffs on C:, while E: is for game, video etc only. But Negeva mention something about problem recognizing the data wat/ever, is that something big?

Also, can I repartion HD? I do not mind if I have to wipe everything and start back blank.

I think I want a partion do-over....:S What are yur recommendation/guide for that?

If you want to re-partition just go ahead and do it. How to partition and format a hard disk in Windows XP.

As to what size your partitions are, that's entirely up to you.

Kay got it, thank Cricket.

OK, new annoying problem. My 8800 GTS w/ Evga latest driver, which can found here http://evga.com/8800driver/, cannot even run a 2004 game, Homeworld 2. ALso weird, after I install thedriver, I can no longer adjust the Antialiasing in my nVidia thing, where yu just sing-click the icon at bottom right. I can only adjust the Anistrophic something liek that.

Audio is fixed, but card problem is still there.
