Need to use system restore but can't logon

The computer has windows XP home on it and it was updated recently but whe nit rebooted it couldn't get to the logon screen, and gave this message : "Logon User Interface DLL Msgina.dll failed to load"

The problem and solution is described HERE but to fix it you need to do a system restore...and the only way I know how to do that is through windows, and since I can't login with this PC I can't restore it...

I tried booting into safe mode, I tried booting with last known good configuration, none worked.

Any advice?

Try safe mode but go into the Administrator account, not the user account.

glc it doesn't make it to the screen where i can select a user, it doesn't get into safemode at all.

it shows the windows logo and right when that goes away, when it would normally let me pick a user, I get the error and the PC reboots. Does that in safemode and normal mode.

When I pick lastk nown good configuration it just hangs on the windows logo, I tried letting it sit there for an hour and it didn't move.

FLG, I will try the method from that link in the morning, thanks.
