OS fails to load after memory dump

I had another memory dump BSOD caused by an IRP Complete Request problem.
The screen said if it reoccurs to change the BIOS memory settings.

Well, my BIOS doesn't have any memory settings that I can find.

The computer wont boot up now, it says Problem Loading OS. Nor will it go into Safe Mode. when I point it to the HDD or DVD drive with an XP OS install disk in it it also says Problem Loading OS.

I am using my smartphone's browser to submit this thread. Help, please...

Specs are in sig. Thanks.

Well, I reset CMOS to no avail.

I am using a different HD on the same system now.

So, how do I get the other HD to work, folks?

So the computer is working okay now?

Is the problem hard drive in or out of the computer? Have you tried installing it to see if you can access the data yet?

The computer is working fine. The HD is still in the computer.

Sorry for being so dense but what do you mean by installing the HD? Do you mean reinstalling the OS? I tried that by putting an XP OS disk in the DVD drive and pointing the system there with the same results: problem loading OS

No, what I wanted to know was if the bad hard drive was in or out of the computer. It's in the computer now so I'll assume it's hooked up.

Does the BIOS see the bad hard drive?

If it does, can you access the bad hard drive through Windows Explorer?

well, the HD is in the comp but I disconnected the power and SATA line.

I think the BIOS does see the HD cuz on the Safe Mode options it gives me some info on the HD but when I point it there I get the Cant Load OS message.

Are you suggesting that I hook up the HD as slave to this working HD? They have 2 different versions of XP, this working one is Pro and the other is Home, SP 2. Will that work?

Yes. The bad hard drive isn't the boot drive anymore so the computer shouldn't try to boot from it. As far as the system is concerned, it's just another storage drive. See if you can access any data on it. And while you're at it, get the manufacturer's diagnostic utility and test the bad hard drive.

I can't access any data while the system does recognize it is a Seagate and its model number, it says it is unformatted. I take it, that is not a good sign. *sigh

RUnning Seatools now. Short test said drive is good. Long test going right now.

Oh, I didn't touch the jumpers at all as far as Slave, Master. Does that make a difference?

THe working drive is regular IDE and the bad one is SATA

EDIT:
It passed the Long DST too.

Have you ran Memtest?

The computer might be fine with the other HDD now, but id run it just to make sure your RAM is OK.
