compter reboots
HI All
I have a problem with my Windows Xp, Home, rebooting whenever I try to convert or burn a movie. I have tried such programs as Nero, DVD Santa, DVDFab Platium, ConvertXtoDVD, Cucusoft AVi to DVD, etc. It also reboots whenever I try to run “Spybot Search and destroy”, or do a virus scan with Kaspersky, as well as quite a few other programs. My CPU usage goes up to 100% and it reboots before the completion of whatever is running. I might add that it did not always do this, system in about 4 years old, and I built it myself. I forget all the spec. right now. I have done a clean install in the last year, but have had a few viruses since then. Any ideas on how to rectify this would be appreciated. Thanks |

Are you getting a BSOD before the reboots?
Have you checked to see if the interior of the case needs cleaning? You might want to test your RAM with Memtest86+. Posting the complete system specs would be helpful. At least tell us the make and wattage of the power supply.  Cricket

Have you checked to see if the interior of the case needs cleaning? Well a $15 can of compressed air seems to fix the problem, Blew off all the fans and such and no problem now. Thanks for the tip, wish all my computer problems where solved as easily as this. Thank for the suggestion. |
