I think I may have messed up something. I wiped my sons computer, and reloaded windows. Now I can not seem to be able to load the mother board disc with the drivers. I also did get the disc to load for the vid card but when I want to start the program it tells me things are missing.
When I wiped the comp I also removed partitions, and have only one partition, Does this matter. I am reloading windows now as I am writing this. |

What kind of computer is this? Home built or name brand?
What are the complete system specs? Please all the parts by brand and model including the power supply and the exact operating system you're using. Cricket

help
I do not have time to list it all this morning. I built it, it is about two years old. It has an asus pc 800 deluxe motherboard. I am using windows xp home edition with service pack one. Like I said I deleted the partitions before wiping, could I have messed something up that westen digital had on the drive, if so can I fix it or should I replace the drive??

Please take the time to post the system specs.
When you reloaded Win XP did you boot it directly from the CD and let it do it's thing. About 3 minutes into what it does it will lead you thru partitioning choices. You have to make a choice or 2 there. If things are not well on the setup on the HD now you can delete partitions and start over. A single partition is OK unless it's a large disk like 160 GB or more. Then you might want to split into 2. When (if) you get XP loaded successfully, you will need to go to Windows Update to get the SP2 updates. There are important changes and security fixes there. SP2 is a must. It's also a huge download but that's what you need. |
