computer unable to install XP updates
XPpro w/ SP2. Had automatic updating checked
Every now and then I'd get a yellow shiled in notification area of taskbar telling me updates were available. I never followed through since the window that opened didn't tell me what the updates were and I had auto update turned on. Decided to finally check with updates from control panel page and microsoft tells me I have 87 updates waiting. I download and install, but I get a message "A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed ". I tried the same process 3 more times. On the 4th time, I chose a custom install and when I looke at the updates waiting to install, I see they all have 0 Kb of data. I am completely confused by all this. Microsoft only tells me to try again and then use their troubleshooter, but naturally there is no similar problem. Any ideas? I do regular malware checks, registry clean via Advanced Uninstaller Pro & CCLean. I use a CA protection suite provided by RoadRunner. Thanks in advance |
