Need help with LAN
Okay here is what's going on. I'm doing a re-format and fresh install of XP Professional. Now when I put my Intel CD in the drive the auto-run does not work. So I bring it down to my local computer shop and he puts it in his machine and it doesn't play for him either. So he says what I can do is just click on Open and install the following stuff from the disc:
1. Chipset 2. LAN 3. Audio 4. USB 2.0 Now I won't be installing Audio Drivers since I'm putting in a higher class of sound card anyway. And he said I really don't need to install the USB 2.0 drivers either, especially since I'm using XP. Now I have successfully installed the Chipset drivers. But now when I click on the LAN folder, it shows four more folders: 1. Apps 2. Pro 1000 3. Pro 100 4. WS03XP32 When I open the XP32 folder I don't see any kind of setup icon. None. All that's there is some .dll files, a .din file, another file called setup info, an uninstall file, a security catalog. and a system file. No setup icon at all. So what to do? Actually I don't know why I need to install LAN drivers? The drivers for my network card Windows already installed. I'm using an Intel D865PERL Motherboard. |

If you can use that omputer to connect to the internet and network (if it applies) then I wouldn't worry too much.
If you really need them, go to the manufactures website and try to download the latest and greatest and then install them that way. (you will need to transfer them somehow to that computer from the one you downloaded from.) |

Well I did find an application icon in the Apps folder. Called SetupBD(Base Driver). I double-clicked on that, and it said "installing Network Drivers", then after that it said it was successful, so perhaps it's all well and cool.

You need to install the LAN Drivers Manually. Go to Device Manager. Look for Network Controller it should have Yellow ? or !. Right Click > Update Driver. Then select the option to install from a specific location. Then Browse through one of the folders. Try all 4 folders.
