Quick launch

I used to have a desktop icon down with the quick launch icons that when I clicked on it, my desktop would appear, not as a folder, but the regular desktop. Somehow I lost it. Following the instructions in the HELP section of Windows puts an icon back down there, but when I click on that new icon, it opens up a desktop folder. How can I get the old icon back that displays the entire desktop ? Running Windows XP Pro.

demosthanese--Thanks for the reply. I tried to download that "guided help" that was in the link you furnished, but I was blocked from dowmloading it. This is on a computer at work, so I guess my download capability is very limited. However I rebooted the computer and the correct icon was BACK, and it worked as before. Problem solved
