login script help
hey everyone,
we're finally moving away from out old netware server. up until now, the netware server has been running the login scripts for everyone, so not i have to make new scripts. netware does a cool thing where groups can have trustee directories, so that when a user is added to that group, the directory automatically shows up in the users networked folder. it was nice because the user only had to click on one network drive, and it showed all fo the folders they have access to. is there a way to do this with windows scripting?

Are you looking for the script to create a specific directory for the user who is a member of a group, or to grant access to a pre-existing directory that is shared with all the users of the group?
Also, what OS are you switching to? |

if the folders are all under 1 root folder then just assign security groups to the sub folders and add the users to that group.
But like the previous poster we need more info |

Usually the way I set it up is to go into into Active Directory Users and Computers and create a User OU (Organizational Unit). Create one for each department. So you may have one for Accounting and one for IT. Create a login script that maps a network drive. Helpful info on login scripts here. Next you would attach that GP to the OU and everyone that you place in that OU will have that drive mapped. You can also create a users home directory in ADU&C on the Profile tab. On mine currently the T: drive is mapped to the department directory and the U: Drive is the users directory which is inside of the T: drive. You will still have to assign the proper permissions to the folder.
