CMD Line Switch/Argument Help! Win XP

I hope this is on topic for this forum! I want to create a Start Menu shortcut that runs a program (application) and opens a specified file when that program runs.

The Program:
E:\Ap\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Photoshop.exe

The File:
D:\Data\Photography\Projects\Promotional Documents - Biz Comp Flyer\CD Label\Photoshop\9-step scale.jpg

I think I'm looking for the same thing as a command line syntax, something like:

C:\Documents and Settings\dmckeen> program filespec /file filespec

I want to enter the syntax I'm looking for in the Target line of the Properties dialog of the Start Menu Shortcut I'm creating. I'm sure this is simple, but I've been going nuts trying to tell Google what I want.

Thanks in advance,

- Dave

E:\Ap\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Photoshop.exe "D:\Data\Photography\Projects\Promotional Documents - Biz Comp Flyer\CD Label\Photoshop\9-step scale.jpg"

The only thing you may need to play with is the exact placement of the " " .

Well, the easiest way I can think of to do this would be to put a shortcut to the file in the start menu. You could even rename it to be the name of the program if you wanted.

I know it doesn't do things the way you wanted, but it will get the job done.

Ian.

Yay! Of course!! I just added quotes around the program filespec. It all worked fine except it opened the wrong version of Photoshop! This fixed it: "E:\Ap\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Photoshop.exe" And I suppose I could havew spelled 'Flier' correctly when I creared the directory.

Thanks so much!!!

Reason for the quotes - a command line does not like spaces in any part of the path. I should have caught that in the program argument too, sorry!
