Xp Pro with 4Gb physical RAM

system : Dual Boot , Xp pro 32Bit - Vista ultimate 64 Bit 4 GB of RAM

Ok , ok .. i know about the 32 Bit limit OS .. but my question is : the max you can see is 3.5 Gb ( i saw that somewhere ) in Xp Pro but in my system it show only 3GB .. so im after that missing 500Mb.

I tried the /3GB /PAE switches in the Boot.ini ,Tried the remap memory option in the Bios.. no success ... Any ideas of the cause ?

however it works like a charm in Vista 64 Bit .. i have my full 4Gb ...

thx

From what I've heard, it's somewhere between 3 and 3.5gb depending on few factors. So it's not always 3.5gb and it's not always 3gb.

The last build I did with XP 32 and 4 gigs reported 3.25. I've heard of as low as 2.75.

i finish my second build yesterday, monday.

I have XP pro with 4Gb crucial DDr2 800 and its only recognizing 2.75.
-is there something i can do about this, or is it time to upgrade to vista?
-also if its not recognizing the full 4gigs, is it utilizing all of the ram? (btw, Bios IS recognizing the full 4gigs)

sorry, if these questions were already answered, i kinda feel like someone jumping in the middle of a conversation

If you want windows to see all 4gb, then you need a 64bit OS.

I hear xp 46 isn't that good, thus I would say vista 64.
