Boom Windows Media Player Freezes

My friend has an HP (3600 series I think) with Windows XP Home w/ service pack 2.

Recently he bought an MP3 Player and we have been using Real Player (which does not pick up song titles) because Windows Media Player freezes as soon as we ask it to do anything.

Because Windows Media Player does find all the Track and Album information I would much prefer to use it if it can be repaired.

I've already tried:
1) Repairing it
2) Removing and reinstalling it
3) Updating it

Can anybody help???

If you want to reply directly please send your suggestions to both email addresses:

Thanks
Dan

First, you might not want to put your email address there.

Second, I'm not sure what the problem is. Is it that you want to use WMP to transfer the songs, but it won't work?

What mp3 player do you have? What version of WMP?

MP3 Player is Sansa 820 - 8 Gb bought from Best Buy

and, Yes - we want to use WMP but every time we try to use it it freezes so we are stuck with using Real Player and having to type in all the track and album info

I can't find anything about a Sansa 820.

Have you tried to see if you can drag and drop the songs into the MP3 player using windows explorer. I find that better then most software programs.

Also, what are you using to tag the files?

Sansa is apparently only sold by Best Buy

Not sure what you mean by "Tag"

Even drag & drop causes the program to freeze

I checked the sansa website, and bestbuy.com. Didn't see it. You could also check the forums on sansa website.

Tag is the part of the file that holds the information like artist, album, and track title. What program do you use to enter that?

When you try to drop and drag, what program freezes? Windows explorer?

You might want to see if they have a firmware update for you player that will alllow it to drag and drop then.

Did it come with it's own software?

Hi Dan,

It's never a good idea to put an email address in a public forum.
Anyone who wants to respond to you directly will use his/her membership privileges to send you a pm or email.
