Shutdown XP notebook on lid close??

as the title, i don't have an option on this IBM T23 to shutdown on lid close only standby or do nothing.

don't really want any apps to do it so is there a reg tweak i can use?

XP Home SP2

You don't really need a 3rd party app to do the action. When you go to Control Panel > Power Options > .. is your computer set to Portable/Laptop? If not, turn it to Portable/Laptop and then go to the Advanced tab .. you should see the options for when your computer lid is closed.
If you still dont have it, then you're looking at a BIOS update and/or update to the power management drives for your laptop.

cheers stat, i have it set to portable/laptop, and i only have the shutdown option in the 'when i press the button' option.

afraid this is such an old comp i dont think i have any bios updates available and have already updated to the last one.

would there be a way to change the registry to think that the laptop closing is in fact the power button being pressed?

just checked bios only option is power button suspend or hibernate.
