Zap Unwanted Keybd Shortcut?
Hello! Once upon a time I opened the Properties dlg of an application shortcut and assigned a key combination to start the app (Shift-Alt-x). It worked for a year and a half then something got corrupted. After that, when I used the key combination, I got the bone jarring Critical Stop sound and a message box saying that a necessary DLL couldn't be located.
The DLL in question is there. The application starts fine on double clicking the shortcut icon. I opened up the Properties dialog where the key combination was assigned, backed out the key combo, closed Properties and deleted the application shortcut. I created a new app shortcut and assigned Shift-Alt-x as the keyboard shortcut. Lo and behold I got the same Critical Stop sound and the message about the missing DLL. Again, I opened Properties, deleted the key combination and deleted the shortcut icon. I created a new application shortcut icon, assigned a new (different) key combo and everything 's fine. Except I'm a creature of habit and occasionally hit the old key combination, Shift-Alt-x. Yikes! It still gives me the heart-stopping sound and the message about the missing DLL (that's not missing). How do I purge "Shift-Alt-x" out of the system so it can be used again? Thanks, - Dave |
