Change the letter of a boot drive in XP

Is there a way to do this? I have tried by simply going to Computer management >> Disk management in Administrative tools but it will not allow me... I know there is software out there like Partition Magic that cost money but I really would prefer not spending money for one thing. The reason I need to do this is because I just put a fresh install of windows on a compaq presario sr1300nx and it installed it to the h: drive. Well I am trying to install drivers for the sound card but it wants to install them to the c: and doesn't have an option to change the path of installation so it just keeps giving me errors. I hope someone can help!

I think in order to change it to C:, you're going to have to reinstall windows. But when you do, make sure everything except the hd, and dvd drive are disconnected. That means disconnecting the card reader that it comes with. After windows is installed, then you can reconnect the card reader.

Thanks for the help... Like you advised, I had to format/reinstall windows but also had to make sure all usb devices were unplugged. Just keyboard and monitor. Again, thanks!
