New CPU for WinXP computer

I would like to improve my old computer's performance by replacing the present CPU (Duron 700) with a faster one (Athlon 1400). I know that the operating system (WinXP) will have an objection after I do this.

Is there any way around this problem?

No, as long as the motherboard supports the new CPU you won't have a problem. The OS doesn't care if you replace the CPU...it's just like adding or replacing RAM.

Thanks, Cricket. This is good to know.

Is it replacing the motherboard that produces a WinXP objection?
