Starting in Safe Mode
I'm trying to start my PC (WinXP Home) in Safe Mode so that I can edit the Registry. When I follow the Support.Microsoft instruction for Safe Mode, I'm not getting it. I restart my Pc and before Windows appear I press F8. A Boot Menu appears asking to select Boot Option from a list of hard drives and optical drives. I was suppose to see a "Safe Mode" sign in the lower left section of the window but I don't see that.
Can anyone tell how to do it, please? |

All I know is as soon as starting repeatably tap F8 (quickly) until the screen appears, Select Safe Mode in the list.

Well, you can run the msconfig, in BOOT.INI tab, turn on "/SAFEBOOT", then restart, after Windows will run into Safe Mode automatically, is it easy? Or after your press F8 and it appears the BOOT Menu, just press Esc, then F8 immediately, the Boot Option screen will appear.

Safe Mode
Duh! I was pressing F8 too early and that's why I kept getting the Boot Menu. I waited until after the logo disappear and lo and behold, I got to the DOS background with the Safe Mode options.
