I have built a new PC and it seems to be working without any major crises. Now I trying to install XP Pro and it says that it cannot find my hard drive. Is there a step that I missed in the installation, or is this a hardware problem

I am not really sure, as I have not built a pc in a long time. When I went into F2, advanced, and Drive Config, the "Configure SATA as" question is set as AHCI. The SATA Ports 0-3 say they are not installed, and are not accessible. The instruction manual I received with the motherboard did not explain this very well (Intel D975XBX2 motherboard)

Hi, Chris Barnes, have you ever try to re-plug the data line? Maybe the line's problem?

Yes, I tried two different cables and two different Sata drives. When going through the boot sequence, it displays the hard drive, however when Windows XP tries to install, after saynig go and I agree to the rules, it starts to load files (looks like it is going to the hard drive. However, when it comes back with the box that should have the listing ofdrives to use, it says no disk in the drive? Is it just not recognizing the hard disk?

You probably need to press F6 during the install and install the SATA drivers.

Good news - XP is now loaded. I tried to use the F6 function and originally it would not use the disk I received from Intel, as it said it was a different system file. I got another copy of the disk and it was able to load. So, now that I have XP I can move forward to the other applications - video editing. Thanks for the help to those who responded.
