Infinite Reboot Loop!
I reinstalled my version of DirectX and accepted the box that says I need to reboot.
Now, my computer boots up as normal, but when it gets to the windows desktop, it reboots again within 2-5 seconds. I've tried looking for a way to get into Windows Safe Mode to correct the problem, but I can't seem to find a way to get into it! Furthermore, I searched the web and found out that I should try and boot to the windows CD to do a repair on the windows partition I have. When I hit r when the disk boots up, it asks me for the admin password, and then gives me a regular ms dos prompt C:/Windows> prompt...Is there a way to boot to safemode from here...what should I do?! HELP! thanks!

Thats not the correct way to do a repair installation. Your going into the repair console. For a repair installation you go in like your going to do a full windows installation. When windows setup program scans your harddrive it will detect the previous windows installation and will then let you choose whether you want to do a full install or a repair installation. At that point choose repair installation and it will fix windows for U without disrupting any of your data and programs.

As ktkendall mentioned .. you are attempting a recovery not a repair when you press R. Read this: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm for details on the repair install.
