Proxy Server
I wanted to know that how do we make a machine or computer a proxy server?
Do we simply have to install ISA Server on that computer and than in the client computers internet options ---->connections--->LAN settings----> Proxy settings (do we enter the IP address of that ISA Server and enter the port as well? I hope my question is clear |

ISA needs to be on a rather beefy server. I prefer Squid. It's open source and runs on very low resources. Combined with DansGuardian it makes a great content filter too.

how about installation.
Thanks for your info,I just wanted to know that is the ISA Server same as proxy server ?

ISA Server will function as a proxy server but does much more than just act as a proxy.
Depending on your configuration, that is one way to get things working. You'll want to give the internal LAN IP address of the ISA and the port that ISA is listening on in your internet connections. You'll need to enable the proper protocols in the ISA firewall before clients can connect to the internet, though.
