XP Task Monitor all over the place

I have attached a snapshot of the CPU usage as my system sits in idle or at least I think it's idle. Any ideas on how to tackle this mess? See attached. System seems to have a mind of it's own, sometimes it's working fine and other times the CPU is grinding away.

Thanks

Jump on over the processes tab so you can see which processes are causing this.

System Idle Process is just that; 'idle', nothing to worry about.

You'll need to Google the processes that are running up your CPU. It could be something simple like an AV program or firewall. It could also be spyware so be sure to run some scans.

71 processes!

I'd read the instructions for posting a hi-jackthis log and run them scans too.

Wow, I didn't notice that 71. My PC boots with only 26 processes running after it's fully booted up. Thats the biggest problem I see on pretty much every one's PC I take a look at is way too many things running in the backround.
