XP Task Scheduler...tasks won't close after running.
Still having a minor issue with Task Scheduler under XP Home. I have scheduled defrag, cleanup, and Norton AV. All these start up and run just fine, but after they run, the programs are still open on the desktop. After the time passes for all 3 tasks to run, they are still all three open and I have to click "OK" or "X" out to close them. In prior versions...Win98 and Win98SE, the scheduled tasks would open, run, then close. The only way you knew they ran was to check the log. I preferred it that way when they ran invisibly. Does anyone know how to get these to close after they run as scheduled? There is probably a switch you can add to the target line in the schedule properties for that task, but I'm lost in that area.

That certainly answers the question about defragmenter. Not sure why they would make it where it couldn't be scheduled....but, that's MS for you. |
