Drivers not digitally signed

Hi,

About a week ago I reinstalled Windows on my laptop. It worked fine. A couple days ago I noticed that my wireless connection wasn't working. It just suddenly stopped. The device doesn't show up at all, and my wireless card doesn't work in Linux, either. So now I'm running with a wired connection for now.

I also noticed that every time I plugged in new hardware, instead of Windows automatically installing it like it should, I would get a message telling me that the drivers were not signed by Microsoft. This happens with every single thing I plug in, whether it be my webcam, USB mouse, flash drive, etc.

Before these problems occurred, I had installed Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc), a utility for mounting virtual drives. I've used this in the past with no problems. However, this time I received two messages regarding unsigned drivers - one for a disk drive and one for 'extended io bus', or something. I accepted both, rather carelessly, thinking they might be for Daemon Tools (I'm sure the disk drive one was)

I think these issues may be tied in to each other. Also note that the light for my wireless card does not come on even when I have it switched on.

Your wireless card died or has become internally disconnected.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, my warranty has expired so I'm going to open it up and take a look.

Any idea on what's behind the unsigned driver errors? Surely a disconnected/dead wireless card isn't the cause.

Have you uninstalled Daemon Tools? How about a system restore?

No, I haven't uninstalled DT, but I did try a System Restore. I'll try both, though, and report my result.
