xp drive converter

where do i find drive converter (FAT>NTFS) in winxp?

tx

didnt find it in system tools>accessories.

You'll have to do this from the command line.

start > run and type cmd

Assuming you want to convert your C: from FAT32 to NTFS...

type: chkdsk c: /f

Hit yes to scan on reboot if this is your O/S drive, and then reboot. This scans your drive and fixes any issues.

type: defrag c:

This defrags your C:. It's a good idea to do before the actual conversion. This process may take some time.

type: convert c: /fs:ntfs

This converts the file system of C: to NTFS.

Well, Force Flow's answer is pretty good. Before you use "convert" command, it's better to check and defrag the hdd at first. That will gain the best performance in NTFS.
