program wont start

Downloaded spybot (free) from download.com.

program installed OK

when the spybot desktop start icon is hit...i get the arrow and hourglass for about 60 seconds..they then disappear but the program does not open????

checked control panel> programs..t lists "spybot" as installed.

removed program--redownloaded/installed>> same problem..

suggestions re: cause/solution

Mine does that sometimes also, I just right click the icon then click open, it takes a second or two but works fine after that. I never have that problem with 1.4 but 1.5 has some glitches.

When you have a problem with an application a good place to find a cause and possibly a solution is to go to event viewer. It has helped me sometimes.

control panel>administration tools>event viewer

Look for any error messages. Read what it says and it might provide a link with more information.

1.5 has a considerable delay starting due to the automatic updater - just be patient.

Had the new SpyBot but deleted it. Didn't mind the slow start but when I clicked update it failed because of " bad check sum' error. Was this because of the autoupdate feature? Thanks

I've gotten that before. I usually just let it update what it can, then close it out, go back and click update again, and from a different server. That usually fixes it right up.
