Weird, weird windows issue

I don't know if this belongs in the other section so I posted it here. I hope a mod can move it for me if it needs to be moved.

Okay so recently I tried installing a sound card which somehow screwed up my windows. Wouldn't boot up properly (kept rebooting after showing a split second of blue screen of death). So then I decided to take the hard drive out and connect it to another computer and back up the files. (haven't gotten around to this). But before that, I decided to try reconnecting the drive and booting it back up. I got the NTLDR is missing screen. So today I got a hold of a XP disc and tried to boot from that. Then I got a blue error screen "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down....". On that screen it talks about the hard drive so I decided to disconnect my hard drive completely and see if I could boot from just the CD. But i got the same damn screen telling me a problem has been detected, etc...check for viruses, remove and new HD's, etc.

How am I getting that screen when I don't even have a HD hooked up?

make if store bought

details of the system if home built
motherboard
sound card cpu
ram and that type of stuff.

The a1640n has integrated Sound card. Did you disable it before adding the new card?

And remove it's drivers.

Best option here would be to remove the new sound card and see if Windows will now fix itself (or you). When you install a new piece of hardware you should always remove it's drivers (and software if any installed) and if as in your case on-board sound disable via the BIOS before adding the new addition.

I think that your hard disks file system got corrupted due to the high number of reboots. Try repairing the hard disk's file allocation table for example by booting from a bootable cd like PE-builder.
