Help with cable internet in ME please!
I just installed Windows ME on and old P3 rig just for something to do. I want to connect to the internet through my cable modem. I have entered my IP and subnet mask. When it comes to DNS servers I am stuck. In Windows XP, all I need is the DNS addresses, but in ME it also wants a host name and a domain, which I don't have. WHat are these and how could I get them?

LOL, nevermind. I just figured out that I didn't have the ethernet cable connected
I just put in paradise as the host name ans paradise.net.nz as the domain and it worked. Now I have a bigger problem, I relly need a driver for the graphics. Windows update shows no driver updates. I don't know the exact name, only thats it is Matrox 8MB and is somehting like G200?Any one know where to find the driver? Last edited by liambl; 01-22-2008 at 08:24 PM. |

Panama Red gave me this link some time back for the Unknown Device Identifier:
http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html I haven't had need to use it yet but I believe he has had some success with it. If you can find out exactly what card it is you can probably get drivers from www.driverguide.com

Matrox has "an intuitive driver download wizard" according to their site. It'll probably tell ya exactly what driver to use.

Ok I downloaded the driver and it detected it as Matrox MGA G200 AGP. Installed, restarted and finally had access to 1280x1024 at 32bit. I tell you, 640x480 at 16 colours is not at all nice.
Thanks for the help. |
