Question About XP Pro OEM

I have a still sealed XP Pro w/SP2 including the EULA. The Disk says "For use in Dell computers only" on it. It also says "For distribution only with a new Dell pc".

Yet this was sold to me as an "OEM" not knowing what brand or clone pc it would be used in.

Will it work in another pc? I don't want to break the seals if it won't.

TIA

Carl

I've used a Dell CD on a non-Dell machine many times in the past. Some ppl will comment on the BIOS lock, but I've never had this issue.

Same old stuff Cricket. I'm not building or repairing computers any more. Involved more with my grandkids and my model railroading hobby.

Hey Kubie!! Long time no see - Why not start a thread and post some model railroad pics? - I'd love to see some and I bet others, would, too.

My wife gets a new Dell laptop every now and again and her company STILL installs Windows 2000 on them. I get to keep the unused XP and Vista discs for other PC's I build!

As far as I'm concerned - never had a problem using Dell Windows discs for other PC's! :-)

It is technically illegal to install it on anything but a Dell - and that is and always will be the official word on these forums as per rule 9.

Understood! Thanks GLC. So then if I wanted to sell it, the best thing would be to look for an existing Dell owner. The pc it was destined for was a Dell anyway, albeit an older one.
