Installed - Crashed - BIOS - Restart

Last night I had installed Napster client on my windows pc which was a dualboot with one hd 250 gb with windows xp sp2. the second 80gb had ubuntu 6.06. Immediately after installing napster in windows, my computer shut down and restarted. Then it went post and then checked the boot devices. Next, when it tries to boot from the hard drive it just restarts. I can boot from a live cd such as gparted but I cannot even see my ubuntu partition or anything. No chance to boot to any OS other than a live cd. Can anyone help me? My first instinct was to check partitions with GParted. I did and they are still intact, ext2 and ntfs. My next instinct is to try to use some kind of antivirus with Knoppix live DVD which I am downloading now(assuming that it was some kind of viral issue.)

I am not sure if its a virus, or what. But I can only imagine because it seemed to be directly correlated with the installation of the Napster client...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My brother-in-law installed Napster on his Acer laptop and on reboot his DVD-Writer disappeared from his system altogether (which was his D: drive).

A guy at Acer technical support solved his problem eventually but said that Napster on occasion can screw up a computer - causing drives to disappear etc.

I'm sorry that I cannot answer your question directly but I don't think it's a virus issue.
