Thunderbird Email and XP
I've been trying to set up a second email account on my wife's new computer using Thunderbird email.
After spending a good two hours with tech support at AT&T, I'm still having a problem with Thunderbird and my wife's password. I've uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled, trying to get in a position to set up her account from scratch, but XP keeps remembering her email settings and will not let me enter her password even though it keeps asking for it. Where do I go in XP to get rid of all of the Thunderbird account settings? I'm lost!!! TIA Carl |

I would go to Thunderbird, click on Tools, then Account Settings. Your wife’s account should show up there and you can amend or delete it.

I cannot amend it. Once you enter a password when setting up a new account, it will not let you change it. I tried removing the account to start anew and when I put in in her user name, it reverts right back to the settings that were already entered. Thats why I uninstalled/reinstalled Thunderbird hoping that it would wipe out all prior settings. It doesn't. The minute I enter her user name, all of the old settings are right back. I may be on the phone with tech support again. T he other problem is that AT&T doesn't support Thunderbird and you have to find a tech that will go out of his way to help. Carl |

Forgive me for being dim, but I’m not sure exactly what you want to do. Your wife already has an account – right? Do you want to keep this one and add another for her to use? If so, could you not open her new account in a different user name with another password? I have 3 T'bird accounts under different names, which I use for different purposes.
Let me know if I have completely misunderstood your problem and I’ll try again. |

Guess what? AT&T tech support screwed up. I just got off the phone with them and believe it or not, another person had her user name and that is why the password wouldn't work. Its all fixed and running now. I sure appreciate your help though. Carl |
