Internet Issues
I have Windows XP (I know I should install some other OS), but I've been recently have some issues with my Internet browsing. Here's the deal: Once every night (and it's not at a specific time) I will fire up Firefox and it will show a blank white page when I try to go to any website. I will fire up IE 6 and it will show that there is no Internet connection for any website I try to access. I do a Start and Run, CMD, and do a PING on any website and can get a response no problem. I try to connect to my router, both in Firefox and IE (http://192.168.01) and it does the same thing as when I try to pull up any website. I ping my router and I receive a response. I disable and enable my network connection and that doesn't make any difference. The only way I have found to fix the problem is restart my computer.
Can anyone tell me what is going on? I have thought of everything I can that could cause the issue, but obviously that's not enough to solve the issue. I ran a hijackThis report and didn't see anything out the ordinary. Any help would be grateful! Thanks, Brandon |

What happens if you restart your router? What about restarting your modem?

Yeah, I forgot to mentioned that I also tried resetting the router, and both the router and modem without any luck.

I have made sure that I have installed all the Windows updates and that still has not helped. Any other thoughts?
Update: My Internet once again was blank, showing nothing. I decided since I have 3 different network connections to try each one. I have two NICs and one wireless on my computer. Tried all 3, but still produced the same blank Internet pages. I was able to ping websites in the command prompt on all 3 connections. So this rules out any hardware issues related to the computer in my mind. Last edited by brnase; 02-01-2008 at 05:47 PM. |
