64bit xp is little bit faster, so little that you wouldnt even notice it...
troubles far out-weights the benefits.
for one thing, you need 64bit drivers for components such as: video card, lan card, modem, sound card
apps: you will find a lot of 32bit-programs do not work, including important programs such as antivirus programs, you must install 64bit-versions.

Alfie must be a little bit behind. 64-bit might have had lots of troubles with drivers back in 2005 when it first came out, but in 2008, every major brand has some type of support for Windows XP Pro and Server 2003 64-bit.

Now, when you say x32, this is false. No such thing. It's actually x86.

I've had 64-bit XP for about 6 months on 2 different systems. Out dated hardware has given me little problems, as the manufacter websites actually add driver updates for 64-bit versions.

64-bit really isn't much faster. Overclocking with 64-bit is still in it's virgin years though. But the ultimate benefit is that you can break the 4 GB RAM barrier that 32-bit OS could never us, as they were limited to just 3GBs. Look at my stats, I'm running 6 GBs RAM, which works great when you're gaming or doing music with multiple programs like me.

So, in conclusion, the driver issue with 64-bit is not a problem anymore. As long as you have new hardware (sound cards, video cards) you should be fine. 64-bit is ahead of it's time. It actually is faster, but we haven't has many programs take advantage of the hardware. Look at PS3; excellent potential, but it's growing slowly. You're actually hopping on the train at the right time.

Also, something I got to add, as I was running AVG, there are far less viruses attacking x64 OSs too. The reason is the source code is built differently. So less viruses. That's a major plus.

I have been using XP Pro 64-bit for about a year and a half now. I have almost no problems at all. The only annoyance was that my school's antivirus program does not support 64-bit OS... but it's also an outdated piece of junk. So I just installed the free version of avast! instead.

If you do choose to get x64, just make sure you download your drivers on a separate machine, as my ethernet ports did not work until I installed the correct drivers.
