32bit capture card on x64 windoze?
Hey, I bought a video capture card off of newegg and I am trying to get it working on my computer. I run XP Pro x64 and I detect the device in the hardware device manager. However when I try to install the drivers, I get an error (which I can't remember at the moment, but could look up...)
I think the error has to do with the drivers not working on x64. How could I get this hardware working on x64 if the manufacturer only has x86 drivers? I have tried compatibility modes (95, 98, ME, XP) and they don't seem to help. Thanks for reading my question...

What video capture card is it?
I think if the manufacturer does not have the x64 bit drivers then you might be out of luck. I know there is a website with a list of vista x64 drivers, but not sure about winxp x64 drivers. Hopefully someone can shed some light for you. |

There does not appear to be a 64 bit driver for that card. You are out of luck, exchange it for a card that is supported.

Haha, Windoze. That's classic.
And there are also tons of 64-bit compatible video cards out there. Some very affordable too ($25) and some, well, if its over 100 its gotta be compatible. |

This is a *capture* card - not a video card.
No, it is *NOT* necessarily compatible if it's over $100. Each and every card of any type must be researched individually when it comes to 64 bit XP or Vista support. 64 bit Windows is not anywhere near in use enough to make an assumption. You will also find that quite a few devices have 64 bit Vista support, but *not* 64 bit XP - and vice versa. |

Thanks for all the replies. I installed the card on a x86-based M$ install and it worked flawlessly. Guess my x64 machine is out of luck...
Thanks for helping me get things figured out! |
