Mouse disappearing problem

I have an interesting problem for everyone here to help solve.

Whenever i play a game the mouse blinks when i move it. Its a really fast blinking and when it's not moving you can't see the mouse at all.

It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the game is new or old. It does the same thing when i play the sims, or C and C Tiberian wars.

Any help would be great.
Thanks
Ben

PS while I'm typing this its doing it too, but only in the message part of the screen.

That is usually a video driver issue.

Have you looked in control panel under mouse.

See if you have "Hide pointer while typing" checked.

I think it may be the driver issue that glc mentioned. I want to make sure i cover all my bases so what are all the drivers i need to update.

The game
driver in device manager
mouse software
video card driver

Did i miss anything, b/c i updated all those and i still have to problem

thanks again
Ben

The mouse is disappearing probably because there is a cat in the house. Sorry, couldn't resist.

You're funny, try reinstalling your video driver.

hey everyone, i found the problem and now i feel like an idiot

Turns out the problem was that the pointer trail box was checked and the game engine has issues with it, so as soon as i unchecked the pointer trails it was fixed. thanks for all the help and humor
