Angry Fire Strange Boot Problem

Hi,
I installed Vista to dual boot with my xp (second partition, same drive) and was then unable to boot into xp. I tried everything and finally gave up and reinstalled windows, completely reformatting and installed xp on a clean partirion, deleting the vista partition. Now, when i try to boot up i get the following message
Booting Windows Vista (even though I completely deleted it!)

acpi
Done!
fallback 1
find--set-root /bootmgr

the only way i can boot into xp now is to have the xp cd in the drive and boot from cd, i just let it run and dont boot from windows cd and it gets into xp fine. Anyone have any idea how i can get rid of this and boot directly into xp without having to do this?
TIA,
Nell

The reformatting must have missed something put there by Vista. A complete low-level format will make sure everything gets wiped clean.
What does it say in msconfig about the boot path?
