El problemo

I have posted how I updated my bosses computer. Somewhere I presume with one of the Microsoft updates or perhaps AVG AV or rootkit, when I close an I.E. window (and maybe other programs can't recall) instead of closing quickly, it trickles down gradually. What might be causing this, how can I track it down and fix it? Thnx.

It is Windows XP. I also noticed some sharing on IRQ's. Could there be conflicts there?

IRQ 11 O2Micro OZ6912 CardBus Controller OK
IRQ 11 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller OK
IRQ 11 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller OK
IRQ 11 Conexant AC-Link Audio OK
IRQ 11 Conexant 56K ACLink DataFaxVoice Modem OK

IRQ conflicts are a thing of the past. A modern ACPI BIOS and Windows starting with 2000 sorts them out fine and is designed for sharing.

Until you get better advice, if you think a MS update did it, go to add/remove-check the show updates & remove those new ones (probably not a critical one).

If necessary restore to a previous date & start again one at a time & test.

If necessary repeatedly tap F8 when starting PC, then select Last know good config.
(You could try your antimaware programs in Safe Mode first)

I think I figured it out. It seems to have been the phishing filter. I turned it off and it seems to be fine so far. I will post here again if that changes.
