Where are icons kept in XP Pro
Whenever I want to change a desktop icon through right click/Properties, it gives me a list in "%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll" . I have no idea where that is. I'd like to add some icons of my own to this file if I could find it. Anyone know where it is? Thanks.

Why don't you just put it where you want it and browse to it.

Because Windows loses the link and reverts back to the original icon. Hence, I'm looking for the original file.

%SystemRoot% is typically located at:
C:\Windows |

System Root is wherever Windows is .. if you are confused about where the Windows directory is (especially if you have multiple installation directories etc) .. the best way to check environment variables is to open a command prompt (START > RUN > cmd) and type
echo %systemroot% followed by the enter key. |
