unread mail

We have a pc at work in which a few people operate this pc. Whenever it first gets turned on, it will have on the "Logon Screen" that there are 72 unread mail.
Is this message related to a staff member having a hotmail address or is it something else. How can I get rid of the notice.
I have administration rights.
Thanks

If it is not the work's mail, then there must be another mail account.
Do a search for all known email providers? hotmail, yahoo, gmail whatever.
If the admin had it locked down properly could that be added? (still learning)

I'm also learning..... if you say do a search for email providers.... I can't log into other workers hotmail, yahoo or gmail accounts. Does Windows XP Login window trach these email providers?
I don't mind them having email accounts, I just don't want the notice on the "logon screen"

Thanks Law99 you pointed me in the right direction. I have Thunderbird as my email client, previously it was Outlook Express.
Outlook was still configured to read the headers of the emails (even though I don't use it) and it must have been this program that was monitoring the unread mail.
Anyway, I deleted all the email settings in Outlook and rebooted and NO unread message notices.

"I can't log into other workers hotmail, yahoo or gmail accounts."

I thought the Admin had rights to all other accounts? I only know my own PC & there are no other users.
(I still like to learn)

FYI-> "FREE" Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

TweakUI has an option to disable the unread mail function.
