Xp Keeps Freezing After Boot

I've just installed winx XP on my Intel Celeron 733MHz, 256RAM(SDRAM pc100 ), 40GB HDD. Immediately i finished installing and was about to configure the desktop icons it froze. On reboot it gave the same result.
I have changed hard disk, processor, ram IDE connections with the same result.
Anyone help me. Thanks

Are you sure it's frozen? With only 256MB of RAM I suspect it will take a long time to do anything with that computer since it'll be going to the swap file a lot.

Do you have a lot of other programs installed yet? If you do, what kind of background programs are running?

You might want to test the RAM with Memtest86+.
