Sharepoint and Exchange

hello all,
Our company has two server, one hosting sharpoint and the domain, and another running only exchange.

The comapny currently uses public folders to receive service tickets, we wish to transition this to sharepoint document libraries so that the attached service tickets are automaticly saved int he document library.

I am working on enabling icoming email in the sharepoints erver... but i dont really understand what domain it will be using.....

It is an internal email system only (seing as the email only needs to move from the exchange server where it was originaly received to teh sharepoint server), so I assume i can simply makeup a domain name for it and add an mx record to the dns server in our network that points to the smtp server located in the sharepoint server, is this correct?
