Windows Takes a long time to Save settings and shut down

It seems like when i restart my computer, windows sometimes decides it wants to take an eternity to save my user settings before shutting down. Once, a while back, it just held on this screen for too long, so i got impatient, and i just manually booted it.

Recently it has been fluctuating between really long saving times, and moderate save times.
Does anyone know why it takes so long to save my system settings?

How many processes are running on your computer before you shut down? It could be that you have so many processes open and it's taking awhile to shut them all down. If not, download CCleaner (www.cleaner.com) and do a registry and normal scan if you have not already. You could also go to Start > Run > msconfig > Startup tab and uncheck any programs you don't want loading on startup which would cut down on your total processes.

Problem solved, it was startup proc's that had to be turned off through msconfig.

Thanks!
