What is the "error or something" ?? What are the actual error messages? More details will help get you better responses...

the message says something that goes like.

you have installed a software or hardware that is not compatable please remove this software or hardware and try again from a previously good restart point on you computer.

or if you believe this error was caused by a power outtage please click start computer normally.

this has been going on for a long, long time and i can't for the life of me think of what i may have installed that could of caused this. any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks...

Well, have you installed any new hardware?

What are your system specs?

Have you tried booting into safe mode, and then trying to restart and seeing if that worked better?

i've installed a printer, but that's it as far as hardware/periphals, but i have not a clue what softwares i may have installed since this message began.

i've tried a early restore point, but i guess i have none, i've tried both types of safe mode and normaly and when this message occurs theres no way to boot up.

is there any software that could track down what my problem might be if it's corrupted or uncompatible software or hardware???

thanks...

microsoft wanted $70 for tech support other option was $30 for a new disk for my lost os-windows xp. guess i'll go with getting a copy of my os and re-installing it.

once i get the os if someone could help point me in the direction of backing up my stuff on my pc that would be appreciated. thanks...

You don't have to purchase a new disk. As long as you have your product key any disc will work, perhaps a friend has one.

Oops, should just add that it has to the same type of disc. For example, if yours is a retail XP from a store, you can't use an OEM disc, like from a Dell or other brand.
