Install XP

I bought my kid a new Acer AS5315 laptop. I need to get rid of Vista and install XP. I used Killdisk to zero the hard drive. When I boot to the XP cd it says no hard drive found. It is reconized in BIOS though. Can I format without the XP cd then install XP? Where can I get a format CD ?

Did you verify that you can get XP chipset drivers Before starting this project?

Guessing the hard drive is SATA. Look in the BIOS to change its "mode" to IDE.

Good!! I changed the mode to IDE and XP installed OK.
Acer has all of the drivers and I am installing them now.
Thanks
