I've been having USB problems running both Win 98 SE and Win ME. I have 2 USB ports on my PC (Micron 866 P III), a USB hub, a USB hub on my keyboard, and a USB hub on my Mitsubishi monitor. I also have built in card readers on my HP P1100 printer. I can only seem to attach 3 USB peripherals regardless of which USB ports I use. Connecting others either hang my machine or just aren't recognized. I've disconnected my monitor and keyboard hubs, but still no help. Suggestions?

Sounds like a power problem to me. Are any of those other USB hubs powered? The one built into the monitor should be, but if it isn't, you are probably exceeding the power allowed to the USB ports.

I can't remember what brand of USB hub it is that I have at home, but although it is powered, it is a known issue that it has a problem with plugging in a fourth item, 3 is fine. I think it's a Belkin, but I would have to check when I get home.

Thanks for the reply. Actually I started with an Interex and switched to a Linksys with the same results.
