Hi,
I cplan to move my HDD onto a new system. The HDD has Windows XP Pro setup on it and was originally installed on an Intel 925XE chipset motherboard. Rather than re-install Windows and all my applications again, I simply want to "transplant" my HDD into this new build which uses an Intel P35 Express chipset. What problems or issues can I expect? Is what I want to do even feasible? I know Windows can cope with new hardware, but is what I want to do beyond it's capabilities. Any insights or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Since this is changing all the hardware other than the HD, there's a good chance of driver issues. I was told the best way to do this was to do a "repair install" of Win XP. Try doing a search on that. You do need the XP disc to do this. Also you will have to re-install the Windows Update patches.
But otherwise you may have driver issues that will cause Blue Screen errors. |
