Not having admn priviledges....?
I'm working on my partents computer. It started off simple. My parents asked my, "can you please show us how to move the photos from our camera on to our computer." Then I noticed the viruses and the mallware and how painfully slow it was. So, I went to my dad's account, no control panel. Then I went to my mom's, none either. Then I used the windows help and support and found it, but they didn't have those privledges. Then rebooted in safe mode, under the admn account, I found control panel, hell I even got to the add remove software part, but I'm still dealing with admn issues. Now its saying, this operation has been cancelled due to restrictins in effect on this computer. Please contact your system admn." Is there another layer of security on their computer above admn if so where and how to disable it, thanks for your help. Oh, I'm also running in to the same problem when I try to go to user accounts and turn them into admn.
Thanks Josh |

You need to logged into safemode with administrator, create a new user and assign the administrator privillages. Somehow, the manufactured PC removed the built in admin. acct. privillages.

This didn't work.
So now I've tried to log in safe mode and create a new user, but I can't because I don't have a control panel feature in my "START" drop down/up. I've tried searching for it under windows help in my system and they say to go to "control panel." I try to pull up add remove and won't let me do that, I've tried something as simple as going to my desktop properites and it says I can't do that either. Just to clarify, I'm in safe mode and reg as admn. I've also run "antivir" its found tons of problems, but it hasn't resloved this issue yet. Any other thoughts? |

If you have viruses then you might want to try and fix that first, and then maybe do a repair install of windows.
It's going to be a lot of work. If you don't feel llike going through that, and don't have any important information that you can't lose, then you might want to consider a reformat and reinstall of windows.

You don't need the control panel, just right click on My Computer->Manage->Local Users and Groups->Users->Add new user-> After the user created, right click on the user->Properties->Click on the Member of Tab->click on Add-> select Administrators.
