XP: standby-mode is malfunctioning

I prefer to put my computer on standby when I'm only gone for a shorter time. Putting it on standby is not a problem, unfortunately my computer often has difficulty to 'wake up' again.
The longer my PC has been on standby the longer it takes the PC to wake up again. Sometimes I first get a black screen with the mouse cursor before I see the login-screen again.

I have Windows XP on a 5 year old Dell-computer.

No one knows how this comes? I can't imagine that I'm the only one.

Could try a few things.

First test your ram with this: www.memtest.org

Then I would suspect it could be a power supply issue, maybe.

My ram is fine, 512 SDRAM in good state (2 pieces of 256).

The longer I put my computer on standby the more difficult it is for my computer to wake up again. Especially when I use several standbies in a short period my computer gets difficulty.

I am going to continue with the link but so far I haven't seen anything useful.
