Full Windows XP Format.

Hello,

Well I decided to sell my PC to a close friend as its great for he what he wants to do on it such as a small amount of gaming, mostly MSN and word processing and Internet Browsing.

AMD 64 3400+ 2.4ghz

1024mb RAM

Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT

Microsoft XP Pro SP2

500W PSU

19' HP Widescreen

Maxtor 80GB HD

MSI Mobo

NEC DVD-RW

Lite-on DVD

I am going to do a full format however when I bought this Computer myself I had it custom built so I'm guessing if I want too do a full format I am going to need all the driver disks and a working Windows XP disc, Correct yes?

Also I have 2 unwanted partitions that the guy who made my PC put on for me which I also want removing and restored to one partion (full 80GB)

How would I go about doing so?

At the moment I wouldn't really no where to start when completely formatting my Hard Drive and wiping everything.

Thankyou.

Yes you need the winXP disk, and you just boot from it and from the XP setup program you can partition, format the hard drive to your desired specs and than Load XP. Many of the drivers will be within XP, but you should have gotten a drivers disk with that PC when it was new and a valid XP disk.

Simple solution to the drivers; is to download the latest versions before you format and then burn to CD/DVD. Check out the manufacturers website.

Regarding the partitions, the XP setup should allow you to delete all partitions and then create a single or multiple partitions before it formats the drive. Also, many disk manufacturers have software on their sites that will allow you to delete partitions.

Before doing anything it might be best to read and maybe even print off this: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...p_sg_clean.asp
