Utilities for Windows XP

Would you please suggest a good utility for Windows XP ?

I would like to clean up unused files, registry entries etc. Any way to improve performance in XP

I have been using "Fix It Utilities 6" but it seems to allow deletion of certain information that in fact is necessary for some programs and applications.
