How to reset IE startup window
Don't know if this had an effect: running Safari on XPpro. It kept shutting down on me, so I switched back to IE v7, except NOW the startup window went to windows/ie/downloads. I checked internet options and I was still set up to start/home with blank screen. Checked program access/default and that too was unchanged. No matter what I try, everytime I open IE, I get a windows/download page. What simple adjustment do I need to make? Thanks.

While in Internet Options
What happens if you put in a web address. Does it keep it there or switch back? |

Any address I type in or favorite I go to works OK. When I hit the HOME icon it goes to a blank page. It is only when I start IE up. The address that shows is:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx By the way, I did follow through & do an IE update, although I was alreading using what I thought was the latest IE7 |

Kasturi,
Just started up IE & the blank opening page is now there. The only thing I did differently was to shutdown spybot from the taskbar first. It had been popping up asking for permission to make a change for just about every window/file that I opened. Could this have been the culprit? Any idea how to prevent this from happening again? I use Spybot as part of my weekly cleaning. |

its probably just automatically checking for updates and sending you to the download site, now you have taken the update it will likely behave

Spybot has a setting that locks the start page in IE.
You may want to reset that now that you have set the home page to your liking. mickzer. |
